Sherryll Thigpen

Sherryll Thigpen has been teaching music since she was sixteen, when she began offering private flute lessons in her hometown, and she’s been helping students fall in love with music ever since. At Rising Stars Performing Arts Center, she teaches piano, voice, and flute, directs show choir, and serves as the studio’s Marketing Director, blending her love of the arts with her knack for storytelling and design. Over nearly two decades of teaching, Sherryll has worked with students of all ages and experience levels, from brand‑new beginners who are just learning where middle C lives to advanced performers preparing for auditions and recitals. She is passionate about building strong musical foundations—technique, theory, rhythm, and healthy vocal habits—while also keeping lessons fun, encouraging, and tailored to each student’s goals. Whether she’s coaching a show choir through a challenging harmony, helping a piano student unlock a new piece, or guiding a young flutist through their first performance, Sherryll is most energized by those ‘lightbulb’ moments when everything suddenly clicks. She is thrilled to be part of Rising Stars Performing Arts Center, where she can combine her love of music, education, and storytelling to help students grow as confident, expressive performers.
